One Rescued as NEMA Leads Swift Response to Building Collapse
A coordinated multi-agency emergency response led by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) successfully rescued one person from a building collapse at Angel Martins Estate in Piyakasa, located in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Monday.

The incident occurred after a building embankment collapsed, prompting a distress call around 11:00 a.m. In response, the NEMA Abuja Operations Office (AOO) quickly activated key stakeholders, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service, which took command of the scene.
NEMA’s Search and Rescue team, led by the agency’s Head of Operations, Mr. Zakari Abubakar, was deployed to support the emergency efforts. This coordinated inter-agency operation concluded by 12:15 p.m.

The team successfully rescued one individual who sustained minor injuries and received immediate medical attention on-site.
According to NEMA, other agencies involved in the rescue operation include the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the FCT Development Control Department, in addition to NEMA and the FCT Fire Service.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the embankment collapse, but investigations are expected to follow.
