Land Dispute Leads to Man’s Death, Police Arrest Suspect

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Okwuchukwu Ezimuo, over the alleged killing of his relative during a family land dispute in Umunocha Village, Awka-Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area.

According to police reports issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred on the evening of September 22, 2025, during a quarrel between Ezimuo and the deceased, Joseph Dike, aged 65.

Preliminary findings indicate that Dike collapsed after being struck on the chest by the suspect. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the attending medical doctor.

Operatives from the Nnobi Divisional Headquarters promptly responded to the scene, which was cordoned off for investigation. Photographs and other relevant evidence were collected.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a thorough and discreet investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police urges residents to always embrace peaceful dialogue in resolving disputes and shun all forms of violence,” the statement added.
