Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, has been released from detention following a strong show of solidarity by members of the Obidient movement in Edo State.

Her release comes after a coordinated mobilisation effort during which over 30 Obidients gathered at the State Investigation Department (SID) to demand her freedom. The demonstration was led by the Edo State Obidient Coordinator, Comrade Asemota Igiogbe, and the State Director of Mobilisation, Comrade Samuel Abuma.

A video released following her release shows Mama Pee alongside Comrade Igiogbe, visibly relieved and thankful for the support she received.

“Thank you all for speaking up,” a statement from one of the group coordinators, Morris Monye. “On Monday, we tackled the issue squarely.”

Mama P was arrested after she accosted Julius Abure, the former National Chairman of the Labour Party, at the airport on Saturday, accusing him of destroying the lives of millions of Nigerians by selling the Party.

According to the video, she was then attacked by thugs who are allegedly loyal to the ex-LP national leader.
