Eze Eberechukwu Oji Commissions Eye Clinic at Amuvi Primary Health Centre
The Eye Clinic at Amuvi Primary Health Centre has been officially inaugurated by His Eminence Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom. During the ceremony today, he encouraged other villages to follow the example set by the Amuvi community. Eze Oji praised the people for their initiative and urged them to spread awareness about the clinic, ensuring that all villages and neighboring communities know of its existence.

“Amuvi has paved the way, demonstrating that this is the time for the people. Wherever you may be, remember your home and your community. We are filled with joy for what you are doing. Keep up this great work, and may God bless you abundantly. We are grateful to everyone who contributed, both financially and otherwise. This is a significant achievement. Let it be known throughout Arochukwu that this clinic is available here. Spread the word so that people can come here for treatment; it’s free, and no one needs to suffer in silence.”
He emphasised that there is no need to be humble about such an important accomplishment, reminding everyone that this is the time for the children of Aro, and every son and daughter of the Kingdom should take initiative to advance the community’s development.
Expressing his happiness, the President General of Nzuko Aro Worldwide, Mazi Nnadozie Udensi, noted that Amuvi has set a standard for other communities to aspire to.
“When I document the events of my tenure, the Eyes Clinic at Amuvi Healthcare Centre will certainly be highlighted. I appreciate your efforts in making this dream a reality.”
Eze Ogo Amuvi Mazi Thomas Nleneanya Okoroji pointed out that there are no other eye care centres in neighbouring villages, emphasising that the clinic in Arochukwu is unique. He assured the community that qualified doctors and nurses are available to address their eye care needs and vowed to provide standard care.
President General of Amuvi Welfare and Development Association, AWADA, Mazi Ogbonnia Nwafor, shared that the idea for the eye clinic was conceived in 2021, and the executive committee remained committed to bringing it to fruition.
“We have two specialist optometrists who will visit once a month to examine individuals with eye issues. If necessary, patients can be referred to a higher specialist hospital for care at a modest fee”
Executive Secretary Dr Kalu Ulu Kalu of Abia State Primary Healthcare commended the community for their efforts in establishing the eye care centre. ‘It has not been two months since we commissioned the solar panels donated by Her Excellency, the wife of the Executive Governor of Abia State, Mrs Priscilla Otti. I have never seen a community as strong and focused as Amuvi, but we must ensure that these new facilities are maintained. This service is for all of Arochukwu. Every local government area in Abia State is receiving health centres, and Amuvi will receive its fair share of health workers.”
The President of the Women’s Wing of AWADA, Onyemaranwanneya, Lady Stella Okoro, expressed gratitude to God and the community members for coming together to celebrate this milestone. She emphasised that the health centre is intended for the benefit of all residents of Arochukwu.
“Our goal is to ensure that our people are healthy so that we can focus on our lives and happiness.”
Speaking on the benefits of the health facility, a member of the community, Mazi Edward Enyinnaya Okoro, highlighted the importance of accountability and integrity, which have contributed to the community’s significant achievements. His Eminence Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji led the people on a tour of the facility after the commissioning while the Parish priest of St Thamos Catholic Church, Amuvi Rev Fr Anthony Nwogu prayed and blessed, dedicated it to God.
