President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was warmly welcomed in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, on Tuesday as he commissioned a series of landmark projects implemented by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration.

The highlight of the President’s visit was the inauguration of the Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road, a crucial inter-state route connecting Imo and Abia States. This road is expected to significantly ease transportation and boost economic activities in the South-East region.

In addition to the road project, President Tinubu also inaugurated several other key infrastructural developments, including:

– The new Asumpta Flyover, designed to alleviate traffic congestion in the capital city.
– The Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, set to host regional and international events.
– The Imo Digital Learning Centre, a state-of-the-art facility aimed at enhancing digital education and skills acquisition.
– The newly renovated Imo Concorde Hilton Hotel is intended to revitalise tourism and hospitality in the state.

President Tinubu was welcomed by Governor Uzodimma and several Nigerian governors, led by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. Other attendees included Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Governor Ahmed Namadi of Jigawa, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna, among others.

In his address to the large crowd gathered for the event, President Tinubu praised Governor Uzodimma for what he called “visionary and impactful leadership,” emphasising the vital role of infrastructure in driving national development.

Governor Uzodimma, in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering more people-oriented projects throughout the state.
