Son of Policeman Kills Mother in Suspected Ritual Attack, Returns for ‘Incantations’
Residents of Kudenden, a community in Kaduna South LGA, were left in shock on October 12 after a disturbing incident involving a young boy identified as Sunny, an Igala native, who murdered his mother in what locals believe was a ritual-related act.

According to eyewitnesses, the horrifying event occurred at night while Sunny’s father, a police officer, was reportedly away on official duty in Abuja. Neighbours say they became alarmed when the boy fled the scene immediately after the killing and could not be located for hours. The eyewitness also revealed that the deceased told the people that her child, Sunny, was the one who stabbed her before she breathed her last.

However, in a bizarre twist, Sunny returned the next morning clutching what appeared to be a Bible, muttering incoherent words and performing incantation-like gestures over his mother’s lifeless body. His strange behaviour drew the attention of residents, some of whom attempted to take justice into their own hands before local authorities intervened.
“The community was enraged. They nearly lynched him on the spot,” said a resident who requested anonymity. “If not for the timely arrival of security personnel, the outcome could have been even more tragic.”
Videos from the scene, which have since gone viral on social media, show a mob surrounding the boy before his eventual arrest. Police have since taken him into custody for further interrogation.
