Rena Wakama Named Head Coach of Hive Basketball Club in U.S. Unrivaled League
Nigerian basketball coach Rena Wakama has been appointed the head coach of Hive Basketball Club (Hive BC), a franchise in the Unrivaled basketball league in the United States.
Wakama, who currently serves as the head coach of Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, was announced in her new role on Thursday through an official statement from the league.
The Unrivaled, a women’s three-on-three basketball league founded in 2023, was established as an alternative competition to the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and is designed to run during the WNBA off-season.
The league’s inaugural season took place in early 2025, with its second season scheduled for 2026.
