Mother Charged with Defamation After Falsely Accusing Husband of Defiling Daughters
A woman, identified as Mrs Chisom Okonkwo, has been charged in court for defamation of character, following false accusations she made against her husband, Mr Ozioma Okonkwo, alleging that he sexually assaulted their two young daughters, aged 2 and 5.

According to reports, the allegations surfaced last month, in August 2023, after domestic disagreements between the couple. Mrs Okonkwo reportedly claimed that her husband had defiled the children, prompting immediate police intervention and medical examinations.
It was also gathered that on October 27, 2025, Mrs Okonkwo provided false information to the Police Operatives in Enugu State, which prompted the detectives to arrest and detain Mr Okoronkwo.

However, medical reports later confirmed that the girls had not been violated, disproving the mother’s claims.
Following the false claim, authorities arrested Mrs Okonkwo, and she faces legal action for malicious defamation and making false allegations capable of destroying her husband’s reputation.
The case has been scheduled for a hearing at a magistrate’s court in Enugu, where Mrs Okonkwo is expected to answer to the charges.
Meanwhile, the children are reported to be in safe custody as social welfare officers continue to monitor their well-being.
