Fintiri Rejects PDP’s Expulsion of Wike
Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has distanced himself from the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the party.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Fintiri said he “categorically dissociates” himself from the position adopted at the party’s ongoing national convention, stressing that the move is not in the best interest of the PDP.
According to the governor, expelling Wike at a time when the party is still grappling with internal strife could “further plunge the PDP into unending crisis.” He reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, emphasising that his stance is rooted in the pursuit of peace, unity, and stability.
“As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP, and I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration,” Fintiri said, urging party stakeholders to prioritise reconciliation.
He called on party leaders and members to work collectively toward healing existing divisions, warning that only unity and cooperation can strengthen the PDP ahead of future political challenges.
Fintiri reiterated his commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at restoring cohesion within the party, noting that peace and reconciliation remain the only viable way forward.
The PDP at its National convention being held at Ibadan, Oyo State expelled the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Ayo Fayose, Austin Nwachukwu, and several others over anti-party activities.
