‘Terrorists Post Video of Murder to Portray Power’ – Shehu Sani Says
Former lawmaker and human rights activist Shehu Sani has condemned the use of propaganda videos by terrorist groups, describing them as cowardly attempts to project power and instil fear. In a statement, Sani urged Nigerians to remain steadfast, insisting that such tactics must not weaken the nation’s determination to defeat terrorism.

“Whenever terrorists post a video of the murder or kidnapping of their victims, it’s to cowardly ‘portray their power’ and send a threatening message to the World. Their evil antics must not dampen the spirit of a nation confronting them. The killing of Brigadier General M Uba is a tragic loss to our country, but a great sacrifice that will forever be appreciated. He was a brave and gallant soldier, an indomitable spirit who marched towards the fire to save his country.”
Sani expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Brigadier General M. Uba, calling it a tragic loss for the country. He described the late officer as a brave, gallant, and indomitable soldier who “marched towards the fire to save his country.” According to Sani, General Uba’s sacrifice will be forever honoured and appreciated.
Emphasising the need to celebrate the courage and patriotism of fallen soldiers rather than amplify the cruelty of terrorists, Sani noted that Nigeria has endured 15 years of continuous battle against insurgency. Despite the prolonged conflict, he stressed that “terrorism has never won and will never win.”
He called on military authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of General Uba and other personnel, urging a review of any possible lapses that may have contributed to the incident.
Praying for the souls of the fallen heroes, Sani affirmed that their sacrifices will not be forgotten.
