Texas Gov. Abbott Labels CAIR and Muslim Brotherhood “Terrorist” Groups, Bars Them From Buying Land
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that he has designated the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Brotherhood as “foreign terrorist organisations” and “transnational criminal organisations.”

According to Abbott’s proclamation, these groups will be prohibited from purchasing or acquiring real property in the state. He also said the Texas Attorney General is now authorised to file lawsuits to shut down affiliated organisations.
Abbott claimed in his statement that both organisations “have long made their goals clear: to forcibly impose Sharia law and establish Islam’s ‘mastership of the world.’”

He accused them of supporting terrorism, “subverting our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment,” and said they are “not welcome” in Texas.
The governor’s proclamation also references the history of the Muslim Brotherhood, including the views of its founders, and points to CAIR’s alleged past ties to Hamas. Abbott singled out convicted individuals he says are linked to CAIR, such as Ghassan Elashi, who was sentenced in a terror-financing case.
Meanwhile, CAIR has strongly rejected the designation, calling it defamatory and accusing Abbott of stoking anti-Muslim sentiment.
