‘Stop Reducing National Tragedy to Religious Headline’ – Omirhobo to Nicki Minaj
Human rights lawyer Chief Malcolm Emokiniovo Omirhobo has issued a strong public statement criticising American rapper Nicki Minaj for what he described as a “misinformed” portrayal of Nigeria’s ongoing security crisis.

In his statement on Wednesday, Omirhobo argued that the country’s turmoil should not be characterised as a conflict between Christians and Muslims, as Minaj allegedly suggested. He insisted that the reality is far more complex and rooted in attacks on Indigenous ethnic nationalities across the country.
According to Omirhobo, these communities are facing what he termed “genocide,” driven by terrorism, systematic land-grabbing, and government negligence.
He urged the international community and public figures with global influence to avoid oversimplifying the situation.
“Stop reducing a national tragedy to a religious headline,” he said. “Be factual and stop being sensational.”
On Tuesday, rapper Nicki Minaj addressed the United Nations about the Christian genocide.
“In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed. Churches have been burnt, families torn apart, and entire communities live in constant fear because of how they pray. If a church is destroyed, everyone’s heart should break. “I want to make it very clear, once again, that this isn’t about taking sides. This is about standing up against injustice. It’s about what I’ve always stood for.”
