Mbah Unveils Hi-Tech Security Assets, Says Enugu Has Cut Violent Crime by 80%
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has announced a major boost to the state’s security infrastructure with the inauguration of newly procured hi-tech equipment and patrol vehicles under the Enugu State Security Trust Fund.
The new assets include two advanced surveillance drones, 10 Hilux patrol vans, 400 bulletproof vests, and 400 bulletproof helmets.
According to the governor on Monday, these additions will strengthen the state’s growing security architecture, which already features a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre, an expansive network of AI-enabled surveillance cameras, and more than 150 Distress Response Squad vehicles equipped with AI-embedded cameras.
Mbah said the combined efforts and investments have led to a significant reduction in violent crime, over 80 per cent across Enugu State. However, he emphasised that his administration would not relent.
“Security is one sector where you may have scored 90 per cent, but just one breach can undermine all the successes you have accomplished,” he said. “That is why we are not resting on our oars. We will continue to invest heavily in equipment and infrastructure that allow us to nip crime in the bud and respond swiftly whenever it occurs.”
The governor also reiterated the state government’s collaboration with the Federal Government to ensure sustained safety across communities.
He commended the Trustees of the Enugu State Security Trust Fund for their “steadfast support and dedication,” assuring residents that his administration remains committed to making Enugu the safest place to live, work, and invest.
“Tomorrow is here,” Mbah declared.
