The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed receipt of a formal petition from the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, against the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Alhaji Farouk Ahmed.

In a media release dated Tuesday, December 16, 2025, and signed by its spokesperson, Mr John Okor Odey, the anti-graft agency said the petition was submitted through Dangote’s legal representatives and would be thoroughly investigated.

“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) writes to confirm that it received a formal petition today, Tuesday, 16th December 2025, from Alhaji Aliko Dangote through his lawyer. The petition is against the CEO of the NMDPRA, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed,” the statement read.

While the ICPC did not disclose full details of the petition, the allegations by Dangote are understood to border on claims of corruption, abuse of office and regulatory misconduct within the petroleum downstream sector, which he had earlier publicly described as being plagued by entrenched corrupt practices in both public and private institutions.

“The ICPC wishes to state that the petition will be duly investigated,” the commission added, assuring the public of due process and transparency in handling the matter.

Aliko Dangote, during a press conference at Dangote Refinery, accused NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed of spending $5 million on Swiss school fees for his children, an amount he described as inconsistent with a public officer’s salary.

Dangote states this raises serious questions about conflicts of interest, economic sabotage, and the integrity of Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector. He has called on the federal government to investigate and prosecute.

As of the time of filing this report, the NMDPRA and its CEO, Alhaji Farouk Ahmed, have not issued an official response to the allegations contained in the petition.
