Tinubu to Visit Türkiye to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Monday, January 26, for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation between both countries.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the visit will focus on deepening collaboration in key areas including security, education, social development, innovation and aviation. It also builds on the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Türkiye, following an official visit to Nigeria by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from October 19 to 20, 2021.
During the visit, President Tinubu and his Turkish counterpart are expected to hold strategic political and diplomatic talks centred on shared values and mutual interests in finance, communication, trade and investment. High-level engagements will include meetings between senior officials of both nations.
Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) are also expected to be signed, covering areas such as scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation and protocol.
A Nigeria–Türkiye business forum will be held alongside the visit, bringing together investors from both countries to explore opportunities for partnership and investment.
Members of the Nigerian delegation participating in the bilateral discussions include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd); and Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Jimi Benson.
Other members of the entourage are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the state visit.
