Troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have rescued a kidnapped man during ongoing search and rescue operations in Taraba State.

The rescue took place on Monday, January 27, 2026, when troops deployed at Dogon Gawa discovered a man who had been abandoned in the bush by his abductors. The victim was later identified as Mr Ghali.

Military sources disclosed that investigations revealed Mr Ghali was abducted alongside another individual, Mr Simon Oluchukwu, on January 11, 2026, at Gbise Village in the Mbayonga area of Benue State. The kidnappers reportedly killed their driver during the attack.

Following his rescue, Mr Ghali was immediately debriefed and provided with medical attention before being reunited with his family.

Commending the operation, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their courage, professionalism, and determination.

He assured that military operations in the area would be intensified to secure the release of the remaining victim and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

Brigadier General Uwa also called on members of the public to continue supporting military efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
