DSS Arrests Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai After Release by EFCC

Operatives of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, shortly after he was released on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

El-Rufai was granted bail at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday following hours of questioning at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

However, moments after his release, DSS operatives reportedly lay in wait within the premises and immediately took him into custody.

Sources indicate that the DSS arrest is connected to allegations that the former governor unlawfully intercepted the phone communications of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

Details surrounding the alleged interception and the specific charges being considered have not yet been made public.

Meanwhile, neither the DSS nor the EFCC had issued an official statement as of press time.
