ICPC Confirms Detention of Former Kaduna Governor Nasiru El-Rufai
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, is currently in its custody.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 and signed by J. Okor Odey, Head of Media and Public Communications and Spokesperson, the Commission disclosed that El-Rufai was being held in connection with ongoing investigations.
The anti-corruption agency noted that the former governor remains in its custody as of the close of work on the stated date.
While the Commission did not provide further details regarding the nature of the investigations, recall that last week Thursday, the Commission attempted to arrest Mallam El-Rufai through the DSS upon his arrival from Cairo, Egypt, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
They seized his passport when Mallam El-Rufai insisted they write to him officially to invite him to their headquarters.
