Wike Says Ireti Kingibe Will Not Return to Senate in 2027, Cites Reason
Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that Senator Ireti Kingibe will not return to the National Assembly in 2027, insisting that she has “no project to show” for her tenure.

Kingibe, who represents the FCT in the Senate, was elected in 2023 on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).
Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike said he had made his position known more than a year ago and maintained that his stance remains unchanged.
“I have said it more than one year ago, Senator Ireti [Kingibe], you won’t come back as a senator,” Wike stated.
The FCT minister argued that leadership should be assessed based on tangible results rather than titles, stressing that public office holders must demonstrate their impact through visible projects and service delivery.
According to him, true leadership is measured by action and service to the people, not by the prestige associated with political office while insisting that residents of Abuja do not know Senator Kingibe and she has no project to show for her service to the people.
