Reprisal Attack Leaves Six Dead, Dozens Displaced
About six people have died, and many were injured following a violent clash in Aso A Area of Nasarawa State on Wednesday.

Reports from News Central revealed that many homes have been destroyed and people displaced over the alleged killing of a herder who had trespassed on local farmland.
An eyewitness stated that the incident started around 10-11 am when a gunshot was heard in the community. They found out that a man had killed a Fulani man whose settlement was just across the river.
The Fulani herders came for a reprisal, which led to the death of about six persons, injuries to many, and the burning of houses.

The eyewitness, identified as Barid Obarale, stated that there was no rapid response from the police, as they arrived at the community three hours after the incident and were insufficient to curb the menace, given their limited numbers. He revealed that it was the men of the Nigerian Army who came afterwards that were able to douse the tension and speak to the Fulani herders and the youths of the community.
He stated that if not for the youths of the community, there would have been more damage.
“The boys overpowered us, they bombed people’s bikes, destroyed houses.”
