Amnesty International Condemns Killing of 13, Abduction of 28 at Wedding Celebration
At least 13 people have been killed and 28 others abducted following a deadly attack by gunmen on a wedding gathering in Kukyer and Kahir villages, located in Kagarko Local Government Area of southern Kaduna State.

The attack, which occurred late Sunday night, March 29, 2026, and continued into the early hours of Monday, has left the affected communities in shock and mourning.
Witnesses say the assailants stormed the celebration around midnight, opening fire on attendees before taking dozens of people captive.
Human rights organisation Amnesty International has condemned the incident, describing it as a “horrifying attack” on innocent civilians. The group called for urgent action by authorities to rescue those abducted and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Families of the victims and community leaders have released the names of those confirmed killed in the attack.
They include Douglas John, Ado Yakubu, Mai Kano Aribi, John Dan Asabe, Williams Luka, Bako Danjuma, Joseph Yakubu, Victor Peter, Peter Williams, Dogara Markus, Francis Amadu, and Zephaniah Alhaji.
The identity of one additional victim is yet to be confirmed.
