“Stay in Your House if You Are Not Ready to Fight” – Datti Baba-Ahmed to Obi

Former vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has criticised the leadership style of his former running mate, Peter Obi, ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, stating that he should stay in his house if he’s not ready to fight for Nigeria.

Baba-Ahmed criticised Obi’s perceived tendency to disengage from internal party disputes, arguing that such an approach may not reflect the resilience required to lead both a political party and the country.

“As much as I dislike what the All Progressives Congress has done against Nigerians, someone who got the Labour Party’s ticket so easily should have stayed to fix the problem of the party no matter how difficult it is.

“My former leader (Peter Obi) says that wherever there is a quarrel, he will walk away? So there is a quarrel in Nigeria, will he walk away? If you are not ready to fight, stay in your house…”

Referring to Obi clinching the Labour Party Presidential ticket with ease, he opined that such should have come with a greater responsibility to address its internal challenges.

The former Anambra State Governor, Mr Obi, defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) amid internet and external conflicts. He stated that there have always been external forces sent to sow chaos within the political parties.
