Publisher of Igbo Times, iNews Remanded Over Alleged Defamatory Publication Against Governor Soludo’s Family
The publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and iNews, Mr. Ejike Ofoegbu, has been remanded in a correctional facility after being arraigned by the Anambra State Police Command over allegations of publishing false and defamatory reports concerning the family of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo.

According to the police, Ofoegbu was arraigned before a competent court on Monday following the conclusion of investigations into a petition accusing him of circulating fabricated and misleading information allegedly aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the governor’s family and inciting public disaffection.
The Police Command disclosed that the case was transferred to it by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Awka, which initially handled the matter before handing over the suspect for further investigation and prosecution.
Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the court ordered the remand of the defendant in a correctional facility pending the continuation of legal proceedings.
Ikenga noted that the Command would refrain from making further statements on the case in order not to interfere with the judicial process.
He also reminded journalists, publishers and other media practitioners of the importance of verifying information before publication, emphasizing that adherence to professional ethics and compliance with extant laws governing information dissemination remain essential to responsible journalism.
