CityBoy Movement Abia Holds Maiden Strategic Meeting, Announces New Leadership
The CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, has held its first strategic meeting of the State Executives, Zonal Coordinators, the 17 Local Government Area Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators at the permanent State Headquarters of the Movement, located at 20 BCA Road, Umuahia, Abia State.

The strategic meeting, chaired by the State Director, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, focused on strengthening the organisational structure of the Movement, deepening grassroots mobilisation, accelerating membership registration and implementing key directives arising from the National Directors’ Meeting and the recently concluded CityBoy Movement National Retreat.
In his opening address, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe welcomed members and emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, teamwork and strict adherence to the established chain of command.
The State Director explained that the National Retreat produced important resolutions aimed at strengthening the capacity and effectiveness of the Movement, particularly in the areas of organisational structure, due process, financial administration, membership mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
He reiterated that the CityBoy Movement is an independent support movement established primarily to mobilise Nigerians for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, while noting that the Movement will continue to promote progressive leadership and national development beyond the 2027 political cycle.
Mayor Lucky Igbokwe directed all 17 LGA Coordinators and their Assistant Coordinators to commence serious and sustained membership registration within their respective areas.
He stressed that the strength of the Abia Chapter would be measured by verifiable membership registrations rather than estimated figures, urging coordinators to make full use of the official CityBoy Movement mobile application for membership enrolment and verification.
The State Director also directed all LGA Coordinators to immediately commence arrangements to secure suitable locations for official CityBoy Movement offices in their respective Local Government Areas.
He explained that the offices would serve as coordination centres for membership registration, meetings, grassroots mobilisation and other authorised activities.
The State Executive Committee, he disclosed, would soon embark on a tour of all 17 Local Government Areas to inspect the offices, meet with local leadership, assess mobilisation structures and review membership registration progress.
The LGA Coordinators were therefore urged to ensure that their respective offices are properly organised and ready ahead of the commencement of the statewide tour.
The meeting was also informed that the National Directorate would soon conduct the official inauguration of the CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter.
Mayor Lucky Igbokwe described the forthcoming inauguration as an important milestone in the consolidation of the State Chapter and called on all LGA Coordinators to intensify mobilisation efforts to ensure strong participation and adequate representation from all 17 Local Government Areas.
He stated that the official date of the inauguration would be communicated immediately upon confirmation by the National Directorate, adding that the State Executive Committee had already commenced comprehensive preparations towards ensuring a well-organised and successful event.
The State Director urged all members to cooperate fully with the inauguration planning process and ensure that the event reflects the unity, strength, organisational capacity and readiness of the CityBoy Movement in Abia State.
The strategic meeting also featured important leadership decisions and the formal presentation of appointment and redeployment letters to affected officers.
Hon. Kanu Chiwendu was moved from State Treasurer to State Finance Director, while Hon. Okezie Clement Erondu was redeployed from Abia South Zonal Coordinator to State Treasurer.
Mr. Charles Ukeagu was suspended from the CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, and relieved of his position as State Organizing Secretary following concerns raised by the State Leadership bordering on gross inefficiency, insubordination, conduct considered inimical to constituted authority and activities alleged to have created division within the Movement.
In his place, Hon. Iheanyi Philip Okparaocha was appointed Acting State Organizing Secretary.
Mrs. Joy Maduka was appointed State Contact and Mobilization Officer, while Mr. Godson Emenike was appointed State Media and Communications Director.
Mrs. Chioma Okoronkwo was appointed State Welfare and Logistics Officer, Hon. Friday Dimiri was appointed Abia South Zonal Coordinator.
The State Director congratulated the newly appointed and redeployed officers and charged them to discharge their responsibilities with discipline, loyalty and commitment to the objectives of the Movement.
Earlier in the day, former Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, visited the CityBoy Movement Abia State Headquarters, where he hoisted the Movement’s flag during his engagement with the State Chapter.
The strategic meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the Abia State Chapter to strengthen its grassroots structures across the state.
The State Leadership emphasised that the immediate priorities of the Chapter include serious membership registration, establishment of functional LGA offices, preparation for the forthcoming State Chapter inauguration, grassroots voter education, community engagement and continuous coordination across all 17 Local Government Areas.
The State Director reiterated his call for unity and teamwork, stressing that every leader and member has a role to play in building a strong, disciplined and effective CityBoy Movement in Abia State.
The Abia State Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to working in line with the directives of the National Directorate under the leadership of the Director General, Hon. Francis Shoga, and contributing meaningfully to the national mission and objectives of the CityBoy Movement.
