‘The Hour Has Come’: Chief Bourdex Flags Off Abia North Senate Campaign, Declares Seat Is Not A Family Heirloom
Marking the official commencement of public electioneering campaigns as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Labour Party candidate for Abia North Senatorial District, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, MFR, OON, has issued a powerful campaign declaration titled “THE HOUR HAS COME.”

Speaking directly to the electorate across the five local government areas of Abia North, the business mogul and political leader asserted that the upcoming election represents a pivotal referendum on the fundamental nature of political representation in the region.
In a direct critique of incumbent representation, Bourdex challenged the political status quo in the district, declaring that public office must never be treated as personal possession or family inheritance.
“For too long, we have watched representation become something dangerously close to entitlement. But let us remind ourselves of one fundamental truth: A Senate seat is not a throne. It is not an entitlement. It is not a family heirloom. And no individual, however powerful, owns the mandate of the people of Abia North,” Bourdex declared.
Acknowledging that the incumbent, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has had his opportunity to serve both as a two-term Governor and as Senator, Bourdex emphasized that democracy dictates that no public office belongs permanently to any individual. He noted that experience must be judged by tangible delivery rather than years spent in office.
Outlining his vision, Chief Bourdex pledged to run a peaceful, accessible, and issue-based campaign across Bende, Arochukwu, Ohafia, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi. He urged elders, women, and young people to participate actively and defend their vote through lawful and peaceful means.
Aligning his vision with the transformative governance of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, Bourdex promised that his tenure in the Senate would focus on creating real opportunities, driving economic connectivity, attracting federal infrastructure, and establishing accountable representation.
