Abia Rejoice Movement Disowns Etugo Ogah’s Guber Ambition, Reaffirms Support for Otti

The Abia Rejoice Movement has distanced itself from the gubernatorial campaign and political ambition of Chief Etugo Ndubuisi Ogah, declaring its continued and unwavering support for the re-election of Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti.

In a statement issued by the leadership of the movement on Friday, the group said Ogah neither represents nor speaks for the organisation and warned against any attempt to associate his political activities with the Abia Rejoice Movement.

The movement described any such association as “false, misleading and completely unauthorised,” urging the public to disregard campaign materials, statements or announcements suggesting that it had endorsed or adopted Ogah’s political ambition.

According to the statement, Ogah is free to pursue his political aspirations within the provisions of the law and democratic practice, but must do so under his own name, identity, structure and political platform.

The group also called on him to immediately stop using the name, identity, structure, platform or brand of the Abia Rejoice Movement to promote his campaign.

Reaffirming its political position, the movement said it remained firmly behind Governor Otti, citing its belief in continuity, purposeful leadership, institutional development and sustainable transformation in the state.

“Our position is clear, deliberate and unequivocal,” the group said, adding that its support for Otti was based on its conviction that the progress being pursued under the present administration deserved the collective backing of those seeking a stronger and more prosperous Abia.

The Abia Rejoice Movement further announced plans to activate and strengthen its structures across the state’s 17 local government areas, political wards, communities and polling units ahead of the forthcoming elections.

It said its members, coordinators, leaders and supporters remained mobilised to work for what it described as an “overwhelming electoral victory” for Governor Otti.

The movement maintained that its leadership was united and its structure intact, stressing that no individual had the authority to appropriate its identity for personal political purposes.

It therefore urged members of the public to disregard any communication suggesting that the organisation had endorsed, adopted or joined Chief Etugo Ogah’s campaign.

“The Movement has spoken. Its position is clear. Its leadership is united. Its structure remains intact,” the statement added.

The group reiterated its commitment to operating transparently and strategically in the interest of Abia State and its people, while maintaining its support for Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s re-election.
