The political mobilisation for the 2027 Abia North Senatorial election has received another boost following a courtesy visit by the Mayor’s Support Group for Bourdex and Agborcourt Bourdex Foundation, Abiriba, to the Executive Mayor of Ohafia Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Eleanya Ojuu Kalu.

The engagement, which took place on September 3, 2026, formed part of the group’s ongoing mobilisation and support activities for the Labour Party senatorial candidate for Abia North, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex.

The group used the occasion to reaffirm its commitment to the Bourdex senatorial project while outlining plans to deepen grassroots mobilisation across the district ahead of the 2027 election.

During the meeting, members of the group expressed their determination to work towards the success of Bourdex at the polls.

The group assured the Ohafia Mayor that it would deploy its structures, networks and supporters towards mobilising voters for the Labour Party candidate.

In a strong declaration of confidence in their candidate, the group pledged to work towards ensuring that Bourdex receives overwhelming support from the communities and voters within its reach.

The visit therefore provided another opportunity for the supporters to strengthen political relationships and build momentum around the Bourdex candidacy.

Receiving the delegation, Executive Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Hon. Chief Eleanya Ojuu Kalu, commended the group for its initiative and commitment to the Bourdex project.

The Mayor also acknowledged what he described as the capacity, competence and leadership qualities of Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex.

According to him, Bourdex possesses qualities that could enable him to make meaningful contributions to the development and progress of Abia North if given the opportunity to represent the district.

The Mayor’s comments added another layer to the engagement, coming at a time when political activities are increasingly gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

The engagement also featured discussion around developments across Abia State under the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti.

The Ohafia Mayor highlighted what he described as transformational changes and developmental strides being recorded across the state under the Governor’s leadership.

He stressed the importance of supporting the Governor’s vision and programmes while encouraging the visiting group to remain united and focused in its political activities.

The Mayor urged the supporters to sustain their mobilisation efforts and work toward increased voter participation in the 2027 election.

He further encouraged them to mobilise voters to participate actively in the electoral process and exercise their franchise.

The Bourdex support group reportedly used the meeting to reinforce its determination to translate its political support into grassroots votes.

The group pledged massive mobilisation for Bourdex and expressed confidence that its efforts would contribute to a strong showing for the candidate at the polls.

For the supporters, the objective goes beyond making political declarations.

They are seeking to establish a grassroots structure capable of reaching voters at the community and ward levels and converting support for Bourdex into actual participation on election day.

This approach is increasingly becoming central to the 2027 political contest as candidates and support groups intensify efforts to build structures across Abia North.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Leslie Ebueme Ezikpe, described by the group as a distinguished guest, prominent businessman and respected stakeholder.

His presence added further prominence to the engagement as the delegation interacted with the Executive Mayor on the Bourdex project and the broader political direction of Abia North.

The meeting ended with renewed enthusiasm among the participants, with the supporters reaffirming their determination to continue working for the success of Bourdex.

The latest engagement comes as political mobilisation for the 2027 Abia North Senatorial election gathers momentum.

With different support groups beginning to activate their networks, the Bourdex campaign is increasingly placing emphasis on grassroots contact, voter mobilisation and engagement with political stakeholders across the district.

For the Agborcourt Bourdex Foundation and the Mayor’s Support Group, the visit to Ohafia represents another step in their campaign to build a broad support base for the Labour Party candidate.

The group has now taken its message directly to the leadership of Ohafia LGA, reaffirming its commitment to the Bourdex project and promising sustained mobilisation ahead of the election.

As the 2027 political season progresses, more such engagements are expected across Abia North as candidates and their supporters seek to consolidate their positions before the electorate.

For the Bourdex camp, the message from the latest Ohafia engagement is clear: the mobilisation continues, the structures are being activated, and the campaign for Abia North is gathering momentum.
