Leave Chidi Nnamdi Alone, Earn the People’s Trust – New Direction Agenda
By: The New Direction Agenda 2027
There is a curious pattern emerging around the candidacy of Hon. Chidi Nnamdi, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency. His political presence appears to have become a subject of unusual attention among some of those seeking the same mandate.
Perhaps, the question is not why Hon. Chidi Nnamdi is attracting attention, but what exactly about his candidacy has unsettled the established political calculations.
His growing engagement across communities and beyond conventional party boundaries has placed his candidacy within the wider conversation about the future of representation in the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo constituency. That conversation, however, ultimately belongs to the electorate. The people, not political anxiety, speculation or campaign-room arithmetic, will determine who earns their mandate at the ballot.
The New Direction Agenda 2027 therefore has a simple message to those who perceive Hon. Chidi Nnamdi as a threat: political energy is better invested in building genuine relationships with the people than in monitoring another candidate’s every move.
Hon. Chidi Nnamdi’s decision to contest is about presenting a different political thesis to the electorate—one that places the constituency’s future above the familiar calculations of political succession.
The contest ahead should therefore be about ideas, credibility, capacity, engagement and the quality of representation each candidate intends to offer the people.
The New Direction Agenda 2027 consequently urges anyone who considers our candidate a threat to focus first on earning the acceptance of the grassroots, cultivating meaningful visibility and deepening engagement with constituents, rather than becoming consumed by political calculations about another candidate.
Every candidate should be prepared to face the electorate on the strength of their own record, ideas and political offering.
The mandate belongs to the people, and ultimately, the electorate will have the final word.
