FCTA Seals PDP National Secretariat Over 25 Years Unpaid Ground Rent
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday carried out its earlier threat by sealing off Wadata Plaza, the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the party’s failure to pay ground rent fees spanning more than 25 years.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday carried out its earlier threat by sealing off Wadata Plaza, the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over the party’s failure to pay ground rent fees spanning more than 25 years.

The move comes weeks after the FCTA issued a public warning to defaulting property owners in Abuja, including high-profile political offices, to settle outstanding land-related fees or face enforcement actions.
Wadata Plaza, located in Abuja’s Central Business District, was among properties flagged by the FCTA for non-compliance. Officials from the FCTA’s Department of Development Control, accompanied by security personnel, arrived at the premises early Monday morning to enforce the sealing order.

A senior FCTA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the PDP national headquarters had repeatedly ignored notices demanding payment and had made no attempt to regularize its status despite ample warnings.
The action is part of a broader revenue recovery drive initiated by the FCTA to improve internally generated revenue and enforce land administration regulations in the Federal Capital Territory.
At the time of this report, the PDP had yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.
