Obi Explains Absence at Buhari’s Burial
Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has explained the reason behind his delayed visit to Daura, stating that the lack of available flights made it difficult for him to travel.

Speaking to reporters in Daura, Katsina State, Obi expressed his condolences and emphasised that anyone arriving even days later is still part of the mourning process.
“It was difficult for me to get to Daura yesterday. There was no flight,” Obi said. “Anyone who comes even tomorrow is still part of the mourning.”

His visit comes in the wake of a period of national mourning over the death of Late President Muhammadu Buhari who died after a prolonged illness in London on Sunday afternoon.
He was buried on Tuesday at his hometown in Daura. In attendance was President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Borno State Governor Prof Babagana Zulum, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and a host of other notable dignitaries.
