69-Year-Old NPA Retiree Breaks Down in Tears While Demanding 16 Years of Unpaid Pension
A 69-year-old retiree of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Monday broke down in tears at the entrance gate of the agency while demanding payment of her pension arrears allegedly withheld for the past 16 years.

The elderly woman, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was seen crying and pleading with officials and passersby at the NPA premises, saying she had suffered years of hardship since retiring from service.
According to eyewitnesses, the retiree lamented that despite several appeals and visits to relevant authorities, her pension benefits had remained unpaid, leaving her in severe financial distress.
“I worked for this country with all my strength, and now I have been abandoned,” she reportedly said amid tears.
In a viral video, some of the retirees who were carrying placards which read ‘NPA pensioners protest prayer’ ‘my pension is 30k per month, save my soul’ reminded the officials that they will grow old too and demand their entitlements while urging them to pay them their pensions.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Ports Authority had not issued an official statement regarding the retiree’s claims.
