Mayor Lucky Igbokwe Joins Lagos Tourism Chief Idris Aregbe at Freedom Cup as Team Lagos Thrashes Team USA 4–1
The Director of the City Boy Movement in Abia State, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu), joined the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Idris Aregbe, alongside other distinguished guests, at the recently concluded Freedom Cup Friendly Match held in Lagos.

The event, organized as part of activities marking the 250th Anniversary of American Independence, brought together Team USA and Team Lagos in a symbolic football encounter that celebrated friendship, cultural exchange, and the enduring relationship between Nigeria and the United States.
Speaking on the significance of the event, Hon. Idris Aregbe expressed appreciation to the United States Consulate General, led by Consul General Rick Swart, for bringing the Freedom Cup to Lagos. He noted that the event further reinforced Lagos’ position as Africa’s cultural and entertainment hub.
The friendly match lived up to expectations as Team Lagos delivered an impressive performance, securing a convincing 4–1 victory over Team USA on home soil. Beyond the scoreline, the event showcased the power of sports as a tool for unity, diplomacy, and cultural connection.

Mayor Lucky Igbokwe commended the organizers for creating a platform that promotes international friendship and strengthens people-to-people relations through sports and culture. He also applauded Team Lagos and all participating teams for their outstanding display of sportsmanship and excellence.
The Freedom Cup ended on a high note, with participants and supporters celebrating together, highlighting the spirit of unity, mutual respect, and collaboration that the event was designed to promote.
