Buhari Approves N13b for Community Policing

In order to curb insecurity in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N13 billion for the take-off of community policing in the country.

This was made known by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during a virtual meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) on Thursday, August 20, 2020.
In a statement made by Laolu Akande, media aide to Osinbajo, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, some governors, among others were appointed to coordinated the utilization of the funding.

Laolu wrote, “To drive his resolve to rejig the security architecture in the country & deliver a more effective policing, Mr President has approved N13B for the take-off of Community Policing in the country. At today’s NEC meeting, VP asks Govs, SGF, Finance Minister & IGP to work out how the funds would be well utilized to ensure effective implementation of Community Policing in Nigeria, and then report back to NEC. Specifically, the Govs would be represented at this consultations by the NGF chair & two others. There’s no relenting in securing our people.”
