Rebuilding Aba is on Full Throttle – Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has assured Aba residents that the condition of Portharcourt Road, Ngwa Road, Ohanku and roads around Ndiegoro, Aba will soon change for the better as his administration is committed to the total rebuilding of infrastructure in the town.

The Governor was speaking at the 2021 Convention & 20 Million Naira Visual Studio Fund Launch of The Presbyterian Church Of Nigeria, Aba Presbytery held at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, First Aba Parish, No 1 Azikiwe Road Aba.

According to him, his government, working with the World Bank will spend N27 billion on those roads, revealing that there is a plan to construct a 5 and a half kilometre tunnel to take stormwater from Ndiegoro to the Aba River to permanently tackle the problem of flooding which has been major challenge confronting those areas.

Dr Ikpeazu promised that the State will witness greater development in the days ahead and called for the support and understanding of Abians.

He thanked all churches in the State for their sustained prayers and support for him and urged them not to relent. Governor Ikpeazu who described himself as a child of grace said grace is a mystery by God which positions one for greatness and congratulated his Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai on his meritorious award as the Father of the Year of the church, describing him his close personal friend.

The Governor made an undisclosed donation to support the church’s project and assured the church of his continuous support at all times.
The Governor also used the forum to introduce Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike to the church and described him as his worthy partner in the development of Aba.

In his address, the Moderator, Aba Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, The Rt. Rev. Bassey Umoh appreciated the efforts of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in providing vital infrastructure and amenities that are requisite for the sustainable development of the State, especially the Governor’s strives in the improved road network in Aba. He equally thanked the Governor for granting the request made by the Prelate of the church regarding the allotment of land to the church at World Bank Estate Aba.

The Moderator informed that the purpose of the annual convention was to thank God for His mercies in the years past as well as to appreciate those who have used their blessings for the support of the church and the good of humanity.

Earlier in a sermon on the topic, “Grace For My Time” the guest speaker, Reverend Dr Don Odunze Jnr said that the battle of life is about the grace of God. The man of God who took his text from Psalm 84:11 and Ecclesiastics 9:11 said grace provides direction and positions one for upliftment, maintaining that life will be a difficult struggle if one does not have the grave of God. He prayed that God’s grace may envelop Christians and make them have success.

Also speaking, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai thanked the Presbyterian Church for their support to the administration of Governor Ikpeazu and urged them to continue to uphold the Governor in their prayers.

The high point of the occasion was when the leadership of the Church prayed for the Governor asking God to grant him grace and strength in the course of his work.
