A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has declined bail application by suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, seeking bail from custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on the grounds of ill health.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has declined bail application by suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, seeking bail from custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on the grounds of ill health.

Mr Kyari dragged the Nigerian government to court on Monday, a week after he was arrested by the Police and handed over to the custody of NDLEA, over his alleged involvement in trafficking about 25 kilogrammes of cocaine.

In his suit, FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, Mr Kyari asked the court to order the NDLEA to grant him bail for him to proceed on medical treatment while his fundamental rights enforcement application was being heard.
But Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo declined to grant the plea in a motion ex-parte brought by Kyari’s attorneys led by Cynthia Ikena.
The judge asked that the NDLEA be put on notice about the proceeding.
