Aminu’s Arrest: Stop Defending Abuse of Power – Lawyer Urges Nigerians

Human Rights Lawyer Inibehe Effiong has urged Nigerians to stop defending abuse of power because of politics, religion, and ethnicity.

Mr. Effiong said this on Sunday while reacting to the arrest of a young undergraduate of the Federal University of Dutse, Jigawa State, Aminu Adamu Muhammed who accused First Lady Aisha Buhari of ‘eating’ taxpayers’ money.

Aminu was whisked away by the suspected security operatives of the Department of State Security on Thursday 8th, 2022.

“You are defending Aisha Buhari because she’s someone’s mother. This argument is preposterous. Thousands have lost their mothers to the incompetence and cruelty of the Buhari regime. Thousands have been orphaned by the corruption in the management of funds meant to combat terrorism.

Aisha Buhari has been representing herself as the First Lady. She’s not just “someone’s mother.” She’s not just another woman with children. Her husband is occupying the most critical position in Nigeria. Stop defending abuse of power because of politics, religion, on and ethnicity.”

Aminu had in June during the strike of the Academic Staff Union of University,  ASUU, compares the pictures of the First Lady before 2015 and 2022 with a caption “SU MAMA ANCI KUDIN TALAKAWA ANKOSHI. “

His arrest has sparked outrage on social media with citizens calling for his immediate release from incarceration or being charged in court.

Before the 2015 election, the supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari has termed the First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan a ‘shepopotamus’ and even held a burial ceremony with a casket that had President Goodluck Jonathan’s picture.
