President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate withdrawal of police personnel from VIP security duties from politicians and other personalities.

This was made known by the Minister of State for Police Affairs Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, on Monday 13 November 2023 after a two-day management retreat.
It was gathered that the development was geared towards developing a framework for community policing strategy.
She stressed the critical juncture faced by the Nigeria Police Force and the Ministry of Police Affairs, grappling with the enduring consequences of decades of neglect.
This neglect, she said, impeded their ability to fulfill constitutional mandates, prompting the ministry’s commitment to align efforts for the realization of the President’s vision for a rejuvenated and highly effective NPF.
