Nigerians Express Outrage Over Mohbad’s Autopsy Result

Activists have kicked against the autopsy report of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, whose death was marked as “uncertain” due to the advanced decomposition of his body.

A Pathologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Prof. Sunday Soyemi, informed a Coroner sitting at the Magistrates’ Court, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi Ikorodu on Wednesday that the extreme level of decomposition made it impossible to reach a definite conclusion through the autopsy.

The autopsy, carried out at LASUTH, included the documentation of photographs, according to Prof. Soyemi.

He highlighted that Mohbad’s body was not embalmed and had already begun decomposing prior to the autopsy, which was delayed for approximately 21 days.

The results indicated the presence of piritin, caffeine, paracetamol, and a superficial injury on Mohbad’s left hand. The cause of Mohbad’s death remained inconclusive.

Prof. Soyemi refuted claims that Mohbad’s neck was bent and still bleeding post-death.

He detailed the challenges faced while exhuming Mohbad’s body from the grave, mentioning the heavy stones that obstructed the process.

Several accounts on X revealed that there was a hidden truth which was being hidden, @olanikemi asked ‘Mohbad cause of death can’t be determined with autopsy. What about the obvious bullying, beating , suppression and financial violence that was done to him in his life . There are evidence of those everywhere. What happened to those!! RIP MOHBAD!’

Meanwhile, Wahab Shittu (SAN), representing Mohbad’s family, stated after the hearing, “The Pathologist suggested that the body should have been exhumed within 12 hours of burial to prevent decomposition. Thus, the uncertainty about the cause of death raises suspicion since no specific reason is evident.”

The lawyer addressed certain medications administered to Mohbad before his death, possibly contributing to complications that hindered determining the cause of death.
