The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has issued a directive for an immediate crackdown on the proliferation of fake diplomatic and unauthorized number plates on vehicles operating on Nigerian roads.

These counterfeit number plates are allegedly produced by criminals and are neither manufactured by any of the official production plants of the Federal Road Safety Corps nor issued by the Motor Licensing Authorities of the various states.

During a press conference in Abuja, the FRSC Corps Marshal highlighted specific fake and unauthorized number plates that bear inscriptions such as DIPLOMATIC PLATE NUMBER, NYCN, PEACE AMBASSADOR, NAUS, CYMS, UN-UNITY 01, UN-AMB, and NANS.
He has thus approved the immediate initiation of tactical enforcement across all FRSC formations to ensure the prompt arrest and impoundment of all vehicles found on Nigerian roads displaying these identified fake number plates.
