COAS Honours Frontline Troops on Christmas, Promises Enhanced Welfare
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has lauded the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI troops during a Christmas luncheon in Maiduguri.

Highlighting the significance of such festive gatherings, the COAS emphasized that these events foster camaraderie and offer a semblance of home to troops stationed far from their families during the holidays.
Lieutenant General Oluyede praised the troops for their pivotal role in combating terror networks and extremist groups threatening the nation’s peace and security. He urged them to intensify efforts to achieve a decisive victory over adversaries as Nigeria approaches 2025, paving the way for peace, development, and prosperity.
Reaffirming his command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-motivated and combat-ready force, the COAS assured the troops of his unwavering commitment to advancing ongoing welfare programs and introducing new initiatives to boost their morale and professionalism.




He encouraged the soldiers to draw inspiration from the Christmas season, renewing their resolve with love, hope, and vigor. Lieutenant General Oluyede also conveyed the gratitude of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian people for their sacrifices in defense of the nation.
In a goodwill message, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Bukar Tijani, applauded the troops for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state, the North East, and across the country.
He honored the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and reiterated the state government’s continued support for ongoing operations to restore stability.
Theatre Commander Major General Waidi Shuaibu, in his welcome address, noted that the luncheon strengthens bonds among troops and provides an opportunity to reflect on collective successes and challenges. He commended the COAS for his consistent visits to the frontline, which have significantly boosted troop morale. He assured the Army Chief of the troops’ unwavering commitment to restoring normalcy in the North East region and fulfilling the Joint Task Force’s mandate.
Before leaving Maiduguri, the COAS laid the foundation for two blocks of 30-family accommodations in Maimalari Cantonment, further demonstrating his dedication to improving the welfare of frontline troops.
