Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully rescued Mrs Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General Hakeem Odumosu, and neutralized her kidnappers. She was abducted on January 16, 2025, by four masked gunmen.

Mrs Odumosu was taken from her Lexus Jeep outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State. The abduction prompted an immediate response from the anti-kidnapping unit of the Ogun State Police Command, which launched a thorough investigation and targeted pursuit of the kidnappers.
In a statement signed by Police Spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Thursday, it was noted that the Ogun State Police Command, with support from the technical intelligence platforms at Force Headquarters, conducted extensive surveillance of the creeks surrounding Arepo to gather crucial information for tracking down the assailants.

On January 23, 2025, at around 6:45 AM, the police carried out a raid on the kidnappers’ hideout, located in the swampy area of Ikorodu. The intelligence-led operation revealed that the kidnappers were planning their next attack.
Upon arrival, the operatives confronted the kidnappers, who opened fire. In the ensuing shootout, two of the gunmen were neutralized, while four others managed to flee, abandoning their weapons. Mrs Odumosu was rescued from the swampy area during the operation and is unharmed.
She is currently undergoing a medical evaluation as a precautionary measure and has since been reunited with her family.
The police also recovered four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, ammunition of various calibres, and N10,000,000 in ransom that had been previously demanded by the kidnappers, ensuring that justice was served.
