The Imo State Police Command has arrested a landlord for shooting a 12-year-old boy named Paul, who had jumped into the landlord’s compound to retrieve a football on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Monday during a game at the Urban Secondary School field in Area N of the World Bank Housing Estate.
According to eyewitnesses, the football had bounced into the landlord’s property, and Paul, a JSS 1 student, attempted to retrieve it. The landlord, whose identity has not been disclosed, shot Paul in the waist, leaving him critically injured.

Police Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye confirmed the landlord’s arrest and stated that an investigation was ongoing.
Meanwhile, Paul is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, where he is scheduled to undergo surgery due to complications with his bowel movements.
Paul’s guardian, Jonathan Odikanwa, expressed concern for the boy’s well-being, saying, “I just want my boy to survive this critical period. We are praying for his recovery and ask that everyone joins us in praying for his survival.”
