Police Bust Illegal Maternity Home, Rescue Pregnant Women, Infants
Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have busted an illegal maternity home which is involved in child trafficking, unlawful medical practice and impersonation in Usung Atiat, Abak Local Government Area.
Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have busted an illegal maternity home which is involved in child trafficking, unlawful medical practice and impersonation in Usung Atiat, Abak Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John on Friday, the Police, who acted on credible intelligence,, raided the premises and arrested one female,e, Patience Ene Jimmy, who was found harbouring seven pregnant women and five infants aged between two weeks and one year, all from different parts of Akwa Ibom State.

Further search led to the recovery of various medical supplies, including syringes, drip lines, herbs, and immunization records, for which the suspect had no legal authorization.
The rescued women and children have been placed under protective care, while investigations are ongoing to uncover other collaborators and ensure justice is served.
