Former BCA Director Onwueyi Urges Newscasters to Maintain Professionalism in Their Translations
The veteran stated this while lecturing on the topic Techniques of Translation during the monthly meeting of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, Abia State Chapter held at the BCA.

Earstwhile Director, Radio Service Department of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, Mrs. Onyebueke Onwueyi has appealed to news casters to be professional in their translations.
The veteran stated this while lecturing on the topic Techniques of Translation during the monthly meeting of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, Abia State Chapter held at the BCA.
She encouraged news readers to read prudently and understand news bulletins, just as she recalled that a word with different meanings could be misunderstood if interpreted wrongly.
Mrs. Onwueyi highlighted on the proper use of modulation, equivalence, borrowed words among other skills which produces good translations.



On his part the earstwhile interim Chairman of SNB Abia chapter, Chimdi Oluoha harped on the need for news translators to be continuously trained. He appealed to retired professionals to groom upcoming news translators.
In her vote of thanks, Vivian Chima appreciated the guest lecturer for the insightful lesson, just as she prayed for more of such opportunities.
The Chairman, Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, Abia state chapter, Chinezerem Agbakuru appreciated members for attending and assured that SNB will not relent in its duty of educating its members to ensure competence in different aspects of the broadcast profession.
