Umo Eno Named Best Governor of 2025 by Nigerian Governors’ Forum
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has been named the Best Governor of the Year 2025 by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

The prestigious award was presented during the ongoing public presentation of the Socio-Economic Impact of the ARISE Agenda in two Years on the theme: Measuring Progress, Deepening Impact taking place at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo.
At the event, Governor Eno highlighted key achievements under his administration, emphasising the strides made through the ARISE Agenda, a people-focused blueprint for development and social welfare across the state.
“All the vegetables that I eat are from my garden at the Government House,” Governor Eno remarked, reinforcing his message on self-reliance and agricultural development. “If I could have a farm, everyone here should have one.”
He outlined several milestones achieved since assuming office, including setting up an internal evaluation team within the Governor’s Office to reform and streamline public procurement processes. According to him, these reforms have saved the state billions of Naira.
“One of the first things I did when I came into office was to set up an internal evaluation team domiciled in my office to help streamline and eliminate wastage in public procurement processes,” he said. “We have refined policies and implementation plans and set up procurement laws that have helped us steadily execute our procurement process.”
The Governor also revealed that over 205 ARISE Compassionate Homes have already been constructed for the most vulnerable citizens, to reach 500 homes before the end of his first term.
In healthcare, Governor Eno announced the ongoing construction of model primary healthcare centres across the state, alongside the expansion of free medical services under the ARISE Medical Insurance Scheme. So far, over 130,000 people have been enrolled in the scheme.
