Just-In: Fubara Set to Return to Office, Wike Reveals
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is set to resume office on 18th September 2025, following the expiration of the state of emergency that has been in place for several months.
This was made known by former Governor Nyesom Wike after voting at his polling unit in Obia-Akpor Local Government Area of the State on Saturday.
President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in the State following a series of political chaos between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and the suspended Governor, who is his political godson.
According to Wike, the expiration of the emergency will allow both the state governor and the state assembly to resume their duties, thereby restoring full governance to the state.
“This will also mean the return of local government representatives to their positions, ensuring proper governance at the grassroots level,” Wike said during his remarks in Port Harcourt.
Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe was sworn in as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State on March 19, 2025, and has been performing administrative duties in the state.
