Hilda Baci Cleans Pot, Assures Fans of Hygiene Ahead of Record-Breaking Jollof Rice Attempt

Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has reassured the public of strict hygiene measures ahead of her latest record-breaking culinary feat cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.

In a video shared on her Instagram account on Friday, Baci was seen inside the massive six-metre-wide custom pot at Eko Hotel and Suites, personally scrubbing its interior with a branded detergent in preparation for the high-profile event.

“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she wrote, while tagging the detergent company sponsoring the cleaning.

The chef, known for her historic 100-hour cooking marathon in 2023, light-heartedly addressed viewers’ surprise at seeing her inside the giant pot.

“I know you’re probably about to pop your eyeballs out. Why is she inside the pot?” she joked. “The reason I’m inside the pot at this moment is because I need to wash the pot.”

She further explained that the pot would be thoroughly rinsed and sanitised with new mopsticks before any cooking begins, ensuring maximum hygiene for the thousands of servings expected to be prepared.

“In just a few hours, this same pot will be home to thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making,” Baci added, promising to deliver “the most amazing, hygienic food you’ve ever eaten.”

The jollof rice cook-a-thon, hosted in collaboration with popular seasoning brand Gino, is expected to attract over 20,000 attendees. It marks another bold attempt by Baci to etch her name further into culinary history this time with a record-breaking volume of Nigeria’s beloved jollof rice.

The event is free to attend and has generated major buzz among food lovers and fans nationwide.
