Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo Writes Message of Unity, Peace to All Members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)

My dear brothers and sisters in the African Democratic Congress, fellow progressives, leaders at all levels, and the good people of Ogun State and Nigeria at large,

At this crucial moment in our nation’s history, I come before you not only as a son of Ogun State but as a servant of the people, a believer in democracy, and a true advocate of unity and peace. The challenges of our time demand that we rise above division, that we reject bitterness, and that we unite as one family under the banner of the ADC a party founded on the principles of inclusiveness, fairness, and people-oriented governance.

For too long, our beloved Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole have been subjected to the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC). We have seen promises made but not kept; we have witnessed opportunities wasted, and we have felt the pains of policies that do not put the people first. But this is not a time for anger or vengeance. It is a time for peace, for reflection, and for the building of bridges.

The ADC must stand as a shining example of what democracy should represent not the politics of bitterness, not the politics of intimidation, but the politics of service, peace, and unity. Our strength as a party lies not in how loudly we can criticise, but in how deeply we can unite. Our strength lies not in division, but in togetherness.

I call upon all leaders, elders, youths, and women of the ADC to close ranks and work hand-in-hand as one united family. Let us remember that our opponents thrive when we are divided, but they tremble when we are united. The 2027 election is not merely another political contest; it is a defining moment for Ogun State and Nigeria. It is the moment where we decide whether we continue down the road of broken promises or we choose the path of people-first leadership.

Let us therefore commit ourselves to peace in our campaigns, to respect in our words, and to discipline in our actions. The ADC must never be seen as a party of violence or lawlessness; instead, we must embody the values of hope, dialogue, and progress. We must show the world that politics can be played without hatred, that elections can be won without bloodshed, and that leadership can be exercised with humility and compassion.

As I stand with you today, I do not come with arrogance but with humility; I do not come with pride but with a promise a promise to serve, to listen, to unite, and to lead with integrity. Together, let us prove to the people of Ogun State that ADC is not just another political party, but a movement of change, a movement of peace, and a movement of unity.

To the APC, I say this with all due respect: we do not see you as enemies but as fellow Nigerians with a different vision. Yet, we must be honest with our people your years of governance have left scars. Ogun State deserves better, Nigeria deserves better, and the time for a new dawn has come. But we shall pursue this new dawn not with violence, not with rancour, but with the power of unity, peace, and the collective will of the people.

Let us go forward as one family, with one voice, and with one determination: that in 2027, we shall not only contest but we shall prevail. And when victory comes, it will not be the victory of Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo alone, nor the victory of a few individuals, but the victory of the ADC family, the victory of Ogun State, and the victory of Nigeria’s democracy.

My brothers and sisters, let us walk this journey together. Let us speak peace, act peace, and live peace. Let us unite in purpose and in love for our great nation. For it is only in unity that we can overcome, and it is only in peace that we can build the future we desire.
