Countdown Begins as Arochukwu Kingdom Celebrates Ikeji 2025

As the Arochukwu Kingdom count down to the Ekekpe Aro Okeigbo, there is a heightened anticipation among the people of the Kingdom who are looking forward to the festivities that accompanies Ikeji-Aro every year.

The town which is buzzing with cultural pride, unity, and excitement is ready to celebrate the new yam and a successful end of the farming season.

The Nzuko Arochukwu Worldwide and the Central Planning Committee have fully mobilized to ensure a successful celebration, drawing sons and daughters of Arochukwu from across the globe to witness and participate in one of Igbo land’s most revered festivals.

This year’s Ekekpe holds particular significance as Umuaro Okeigbo prepare to welcome Aro Uzo, their kin returning home from the diaspora, to their ancestral homeland in a powerful display of cultural revival and ancestral connection.

In addition, the Arochukwu Kingdom will also celebrate the 100 years of Omu-Aro including other numerous activities packed up for the people.

At the helm of this cultural renaissance is His Eminence, Eze Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, the Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, whose leadership continues to shine in promoting Arochukwu’s rich heritage. The Eze Aro has reiterated his commitment to using the Ikeji Festival as a platform to showcase Arochukwu’s immense tourism and cultural potentials to the global community.

On September 21, all roads will lead to Arochukwu Kingdom to kick off this festival with an interdenominational crusade at the Civic Centre, Oror, Arochukwu LGA.

Expected is the State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR, Commissioner for Arts and Creative Economy, Dr Mathew Ekwuribe, business moguls, traditional monachs of various communities and other notable sons and daughters of the Kingdom.
