A Message of Outrage and Concern – Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo

It is nothing short of a national embarrassment that the sitting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, could openly admit that he never attended a primary or secondary school, and yet Nigerians are expected to entrust him with the leadership of this great nation. Even more shocking is the laughable excuse that his university certificate was stolen by “unknown soldiers.” This is an insult to the collective intelligence of over 200 million Nigerians.

How can a man who cannot clearly account for the foundation of his education preside over the destiny of a country that is in dire need of visionary, credible, and competent leadership? Every young Nigerian child is told that education is the key to success, that hard work in school will open doors of opportunity. Yet, the very leader of the country disregards this sacred truth and promotes mediocrity by example. What message does this send to our youth? Does that mean integrity, merit, and transparency do not matter in leadership?

Let us be frank: this excuse of “unknown soldiers” stealing his certificate is nothing more than a convenient cover-up. No serious leader in any civilised society could make such a claim and still occupy the highest office of the land. This is the same Nigeria where graduates, despite years of rigorous study, are roaming the streets unemployed, where our brightest minds are leaving in droves because of a lack of opportunity. Meanwhile, someone without a traceable academic background sits at the helm of affairs, making policies that shape their lives.

This is not about politics it is about truth, justice, and the moral fabric of our nation. A country that allows deceit and dishonesty at the highest level of leadership is a country that has surrendered its values. Nigerians deserve better. We deserve leaders whose lives and credentials can withstand the test of scrutiny, leaders who inspire hope, not mockery.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s confession is a clear testimony that Nigeria is under the captivity of manipulation and fraud. It is a wake-up call to every citizen: if we do not rise, organise, and demand accountability, our nation will remain in the hands of those who believe power is a birthright, not a sacred trust.

The time has come to say Enough is enough. Nigeria cannot and must not continue to be governed by shadows and half-truths. We need leaders with character, transparency, and proven competence leaders who embody the future we dream of, not those who drag us into ridicule before the world.
